Hutto residents will soon have a new restaurant in town, following the start of construction on Southside Market & Barbeque’s upcoming location in Hutto’s Co-Op District. MA Partners, the developer behind the Co-Op District, and Southside Market announced construction had begun on the site in a Feb. 11 company news release, adding its anticipated opening date is slated for late summer 2020.
Southside Market first opened in Elgin in 1882 and has since added locations in Bastrop and North Austin, according to the release. Its Hutto location will comprise 7,000 square feet of space and employ approximately 50 workers when it opens for business, per the release.
“We are thrilled to have construction underway for our first commercial tenant, Southside Market,” said Bob Wunsch of MA Partners, the developer of The Co-Op District, in the release. “We’ve been enjoying Southside Market’s offerings for decades, and we can’t wait to see the doors open and for the Hutto community and visitors to be able to enjoy the exceptional barbeque that has earned Southside Market national acclaim.”
Confirmed tenants for the Co-Op District include Flix Brewhouse and Top Notch Hamburgers. Additional tenants will be announced in the coming months, according to the release.
