Top Notch, Iconic ‘Dazed and Confused’ Burger Joint, Opens in Hutto

By Houston Chronicle

It’s the home of the Longhorn Special and some paddles used by the seniors on the freshmen inĀ Dazed and Confused. And now, Austin’s iconic burger joint has a home away from home.

The much-awaited second location of Top Notch opened in at 121 Co-Op Boulevard in Hutto, a suburb east of Round Rock in Williamson County, on Wednesday, March 22. The Austin location on Burnet Road is famous for a few reasons: its many variations on the charbroiled hamburger (the Top Special, for instance, has hickory sauce and grated cheese) and for an iconic Dazed and Confused scene filmed at the still-vintage-looking spot featuring Matthew McConaughey’s Wooderson.

By all accounts, the opening was a success. A small line formed outside just before the 11 a.m. opening, according to a post on Facebook. Williamson County residents left dozens of comments about the excitement caused by the opening.
